The MediaServer is designed to be secure both on your home network and when used as a gateway to the internet. Locally, users can be added with unique passwords allowing files to be shared or hidden at the owner's option. You can have a general space shared by all members of your family and private space viewable only by those you authorize to have access.

The Mediaserver has an optional capability for acting as an internet gateway so all PCs on your home network can share one internet connection. This connection is protected by firewall software designed to keep other computers on the internet from accessing computers on your home network without your permission.

Additional security features are provided by specific network services that can be enabled or disabled depending on how you want to access your server. The Gateway software provides a webserver, for instance, allowing webpage hosting as well as password protection of web content. These security features are supported by all of the most popular web browsers and is an effective means for allowing access to your data by only those you authorize.
