The
Mediaserver Gateway is an add-on software product for the Mediaserver
line of storage devices. The Gateway enables your Mediaserver to connect
to the internet through your broadband connection and provides valuable
connection services for your home network. These services include:
- Share your broadband connection with other
PCs on your home network. Firewall protection helps reduce the risk of
other internet computers gaining unauthorized access to PCs on your home
network.
- Host your own website* with the Apache Web
Server! This allows you to make information stored on your Mediaserver
available to the internet for public or private viewing. Your private
files can be configured with password protection so you can securely
access your data from the internet. Share pictures, video and other files
with people you choose.
- Host your own email* - Hosting your own email
helps eliminate restrictions imposed by other email hosting companies.
The number of email messages allowed in your inbox and the maximum size of
attachments can be controlled by you.
- DHCP LAN management allows other PCs on your home network to obtain
their network information from the Mediaserver so you don't have to
manually configure each PC.
* Hosting your own website and email requires a static IP address
available from many Internet Service Providers. In addition, you may
want to register a domain name to make it easier to access your web
site. Your Home Media Storage sales representative can give you more
information on registering domain names and obtaining static IP
addresses.
